Message 7: Peace
After the war with Iraq, I heard
a retired general saying on TV that war is not only the best way to
establish world peace, but that it is actually the only way to
guarantee peace. And watching the great celebration of the Iraqi
people after the fall of Saddam’s regime, I honestly asked myself if
the general might be right. Maybe war is the only way to
establish world peace. Maybe this is why many religions are
stimulating to fight in the name of God. The Islamic religion
teaches that Muslims, who die in Jihad, will receive numerous
blessings in heaven. The Old Testament is so in favor of war that it
says in Exodus 15:3: “The Lord is a man of war.”
If Gods and generals agree on
war, then why are we peace seekers still protesting against war? Why
am I wasting my time here to talk about peace, which seems to be
impossible without war? Maybe we peace seekers are the idiots of the
world, and if war is an essential part of this world, we should just
shut our big mouths and go on with our lives! After all, they
crucified Jesus, who was teaching Love; they shot Mahatma Gandhi,
who was a living example of the principle of non-violence; they
killed Martin Luther King Jr., who had a wonderful dream. Through
all the centuries, people have been advocating for peace, but they
were wiped out, silenced, and ignored. One would think that after
two horrible World Wars, leaders would finally understand that war
is not serving any good, and that they would come to their senses
and stop all bloody conflicts. But no, the contrary happened.
Weapons have been developed to such terrible proportions that we can
literally blow up the entire world and wipe out the race of humans
in one crazy moment.
Why is this so? Why is war always
inevitable? Was the war with Iraq justified? It toppled Saddam’s
regime and freed the Iraqi people from decades of dictatorship,
oppression and injustice. Did this war then serve a good purpose? In
my honest search for a just answer, I asked the Lord in my prayers
if war is serving any good purpose, and this is what I heard in the
silence of my heart: (see also introduction)
“It is My peace that I want to give to the
world. And you cannot guarantee this peace by the means of war;
neither can you say that there is peace when there is no war.
Demonstrations without a solution for the root of conflicts will not
establish peace and those who want to establish peace with weapons
do not understand that genuine peace is not achieved by killing
people and destroying nations. Don’t fight for peace if you yourself
have no peace in your heart, but neither should you blindly support
war by ignoring the roots of your conflicts. I tell you this: when
your hate and distrust for each other has gone too far, your
conflicts will end up in wars and your wars will end up in an
incomprehensible chaos. You accuse each other of having weapons of
mass destruction, and you fear each other for those destructive
weapons. You want to control each other with the power of these
weapons, but you are under control of fear. Fear for the monsters of
your own creations. Then how can you now stop this mad circle of
hate, distrust and fear, which will certainly lead to total
destruction? People are overwhelmed with fear, hearts have become
stones, how then can you feel the pains and despair you are
inflicting all over the world? All of you who are holding weapons,
be it a simple tool to kill just one person, or be it a whole
arsenal of weapons, I tell you, each one of you responsible for the
terrors and destructions, your days are over! You are blinded by
your arrogance, by your hate, and therefore you cannot see Me, you
cannot hear Me, and certainly you won’t understand Me. I have
entered upon humanity, and one by one My people are standing up to
join My army. An army working to bring My peace, and your weapons
and deceits cannot stop this Mighty army, whose spears are My words,
whose power lies in My promises and whose armament is composed of My
spiritual energy. Your days are counted, and you cannot stop the
power of My people.”
Sometimes I cannot
believe that we, ‘civilized human beings’ have no other option to
establish global peace than through the same old barbarian way our
primitive ancestors used to solve their conflicts. In their time,
they had no other options. But we have enlarged our minds to
comprehend that we are only a tiny dot in our galaxy, and that our
galaxy is only a dot in the vast universe, which goes beyond our
perception. If we could broaden our mind to see far into galaxies,
to see deep into the mini cosmos of atoms, of which we are composed,
then why have we failed to enlarge the compassion in our hearts to
understand that the same pain we are inflicting onto others will
strike back to us. Just like everything in the Universe is circling
around, and just like the beat of rhythm in nature is a circle, so
too will we suffer the pains we inflict onto others. And it is this
primitive and barbarian way of trying to solve our conflicts with
the brutal force of destruction that makes us go around as madmen in
a vicious circle of anger, distrust, ignorance and fear. |
